For we are God's fellow workers... 1 Corinthians 3:9The Lutheran Youth of Victoria believe that leadership is a privilege and a responsibility. To walk with the youth and young adults of our District in their relationship with God is a gift and a blessing. Leadership is also an opportunity to serve God and work together with a diverse group as the Body of Christ. God calls many people to leadership at different times in their lives and doesn't fail to equip those He calls.
Leadership in the youth ministry context is like life - you are continually learning and growing and responding to God's call. It's a cycle of identifying that call, and being equipped for, and then reflecting on the experience: Identification -> invitation to apply -> application -> acceptance -> training -> the leading experience -> review |

I'm a leader for lots of reasons! Firstly, I remember how much of an impact leaders had on me when I was a camper, and I feel really privileged to have the chance to do that for others. Secondly I grow so much in my faith every time I lead. Some of the questions the campers battle with are ones I do too, so as we talk to pastors and camp parents and go through studies I feel my knowledge base increasing which is really encouraging. And lastly, it's just downright fun, because the people who you lead with are usually people you've grown up as a camper with, and even if they aren't, you get the end of the week with some really meaningful friendships.
